Frequently asked questions
How many passengers fit on your helicopter fleet?
Five aircraft: Robinson R44 (up to 3 passengers for scenic tours), Airbus AS350 B2 (5), and MD 902 Explorer, Airbus EC130 B4, and AW109S (up to 6 each). We match aircraft to your group size, route and baggage.
Are scenic tour prices per person or per flight?
R44 panoramic tours from Tobías Bolaños are priced per flight (not per person), with a maximum number of passengers included in each package — for example, Mini City from US$325 per flight for up to 3 passengers. Door-to-door transfers are quoted separately on our map.
How much does a helicopter transfer cost?
Point-to-point transfers depend on route, aircraft, passengers and landing zone. Use the interactive map for indicative flight times, then request a quote via WhatsApp — we confirm availability, aircraft and your final total before travel day.
How much luggage can I bring on a helicopter transfer?
Soft bags work best. Plan roughly 15–20 kg (33–44 lb) per passenger; hard suitcases are limited. Tell us your baggage when you inquire so we assign the right helicopter.
Which airports and helipads do you serve?
Primary hubs: Juan Santamaría (SJO) and Liberia (LIR). We coordinate resort helipads and private zones in Papagayo, Tamarindo, Nosara, Manuel Antonio, Arenal, Tortuguero and nationwide by prior approval.
How long does a helicopter flight from San José to Guanacaste take?
Indicative times: SJO to Tamarindo or Papagayo about 45–50 minutes; SJO to Manuel Antonio about 20 minutes. Actual time depends on aircraft, weather and your landing zone.
Are your helicopters certified in Costa Rica?
Yes. Flights use DGAC-registered aircraft with certified pilots, documented maintenance and valid insurance. Luxury Pura Vida coordinates certified aviation partners on your behalf — we are the concierge, not the aircraft owner.
Does Luxury Pura Vida own the helicopters?
No. We coordinate premium helicopter and jet experiences through certified aviation partners with DGAC compliance and insurance in place. You book with one team (LPV); we handle availability, aircraft assignment and written confirmation.
